This month's topic:
Anxiety and Panic Disorder: looking beyond the nervous system
One in 7 Australians regularly experience excessive fear, worry, tension, shortness of breath, tight chest, racing heart and hot and cold flushes. These are the symptoms of Anxiety and Panic Disorder (PD) which can have a debilitating effect, impacting quality of life and even ending in hospitalisation.
Anxiety is strongly associated with chronic digestive and respiratory disorders and the development of cardiovascular disease; the treatment of anxiety has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of these conditions.
Join Colleen Rowe, Bio Concepts Technical Advisor, to explore natural treatment options to support those with anxiety and panic disorders
- Examine how sleep disturbance, including insomnia, respiratory patterns and sympathetic dominance all play a role in the development of PD
- Explore the association between the immunological system and PD
- Discuss whether acid/alkaline balance is a potential clinical target
- Learn the two nutrient deficiencies strongly implicated in PD
- Uncover dietary interventions to manage anxiety disorders, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Explore the role physical fitness plays in PD and anxiety
