Pyridoxal-5’-Phosphate Insufficiency Linked with Chronic Inflammation and Alzheimer’s disease

A recent study published in the 2012 edition of The Journal of Nutrition further supports the hypothesis that inflammation is associated with a functional deficiency of pyridoxal-5’-phosphate (vitamin B6). Low plasma levels of pyridoxal-5’-phosphate have been linked with some inflammatory diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.
